2024 Summer Student Work Program

Start Date: July 2, 2024 | Finish Date: August 16, 2024

Job Description:
Prophet River First Nation Annual Summer Student Work program is in sponsorship with NENAS and FNESC. The work plan is designed to provide a fun, diverse learning experience. 

Work experience within each of the departments in one-week intervals to learn administration, work with community elders, lands, and culture. 

More specifically:

  • Community Maintenance (building fences, cleanup grounds, cut grass etc.)
  • Support and participate in cultural activities, teachings, with a hands-on approach
  • Reviewing maps of traditional territory and engage in group discussions concerning land protection cultural significance (Students may be video recorded)
  • Fieldwork (attend one or more site visits per industry project proposals)

Workshop and group activities:

  • Trades discovery workshop in Fort St. John (travel and expenses included)
  • Horse Handling workshop – Sikanni River Ranch
  • Trimble Lake overnight wilderness survival camp that includes land based skills, storytelling and plant identification
  • End of year group trip (details to follow)
