Hello Members!

We want to extend our love and support to our neighbours in Fort Nelson as they return home from a lengthy evacuation. It will continue to be a challenging few weeks or even months to get everything back up and running, but seeing how the community is coming together to help one another will be encouraging.

I want to thank everyone involved in our Emergency Operations Committee (EOC) again. The team’s hard work and dedication ensured our members remained safe and had up-to-date information during the ongoing threat of the wildfires. Additionally, I want to recognize and commend our community’s resilience and unity during these challenging times.

As we all know, the threat of wildfires will persist throughout the summer months. It’s essential that each of us takes a moment to review our evacuation plans. To assist you, we have provided resources on our website and on the next page of this newsletter. Your preparedness is key to our community’s safety.

The Election Referendum vote was held on May 11, 2024, and unfortunately, with only 42 votes, we did not receive enough to ratify the new election code. We received 26 yes votes and 16 no votes. The upcoming election will adhere to the current election code. Please watch for updates on the upcoming election in the next few weeks.

The Gathering of Drummers is approaching quickly, and I want to commend the team for coordinating the new dates so quickly. There are so many wonderful events planned, so please make sure to check out the full schedule online and in this newsletter.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming events in the community and at the ranch!
