Dene Tsaa School Receives FNSA Certification

After many months of hard work, Prophet River Dene Tsaa School has received certification from the First Nations Schools Association for Pre-3 to Grade 12.

“This certification will provide a significant increase in funding for our school. Before we received certification we only received 25% funding from the government, and now we will receive 100% funding for each student,” explains Kristiana Bailey, Principal and Head Teacher.

Two main components in receiving this certification are the 5-year Growth Plan, with a focus on expanding access to technology, and an ambitious Culture Plan. The Culture Plan will focus on having Elders mentoring students in making shawls, graduation caps and vests, along with teaching the Dene Tsaa language and learning to hunt and survive off the land.

Along with expanding funding for the school, this also allows for students to start in Pre-3 and Pre-4 and will be able to attend school right up until Grade 12.

Prophet River Dene Tsaa School has also gone through some restructuring with staff, to provide the best support and education for our students. Now accepting student registrations for September. Please call 1.844.323.0324 x102 or email
