We are actively recruiting for the role of Specialist, Regulatory. Reporting to the Manager, Regulatory, this role will support and report on compliance-related activities and data related to NorthRiver’s Management System (MS) including corrective action development and tracking, and coordination of internal and external audits. This role will also support NorthRiver’s liability management and asset retirement obligations.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Project Approvals
Advise and assist on all aspects of regulatory applications, including reviewing and drafting notifications, applications, amendments; preparing and reviewing information requests; drafting responses to stakeholder interventions; and submitting regulatory filings.

Support the development of regulatory strategies for all aspects of federal and provincial project approvals; Assist NorthRiver’s Indigenous and Community Relations team in relation to Indigenous engagement, consultation and accommodation obligations as needed;

Assist with due diligence related to a potential asset, share and joint venture transactions.

Regulatory Advocacy
In collaboration with Government Relations, meet with government and regulatory officials and Indigenous and local communities as required to support the Company’s regulatory applications;

Participate in regulator consultations and industry associations and forums as appropriate, both to influence regulatory policy development as well as be informed about potential changes;

Proactively communicate policy development initiatives within the Company as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Curious, creative and innovative.
  • Strong time management skills and organizational skills.
  • Specific knowledge and experience of federal and provincial regulatory requirements (laws, guidelines and practices) and systems; particular expertise in British Columbia with the Oil and Gas Commission and the AMS will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, exceptional listening, good oral and well-developed written communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to field locations in Northeast British Columbia and Northwest Alberta.
