Toni Dumais takes lead on Economic Development
We are excited to introduce Toni Dumais, our new Director of Economic Development. Toni brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to community-based growth. As a proud community member and mother of three, who are also members of the Nation, Toni is passionate about building a stronger, more prosperous future for all.
Toni holds an MBA from Simon Fraser University (SFU) and has over 20 years of experience starting and operating businesses. Her extensive background includes serving on the Gender & Cultural Safety Committee at Woodfibre LNG and participating in the Indigenous Management Council of Nations (IMCN). Toni’s leadership and strategic insight will be invaluable as we move forward with key economic initiatives.
Toni will be focusing on creating a robust, community-driven economic development strategy that covers a wide range of areas, including:
- Strategy Development: Establishing a clear path for economic growth.
- CNP Discovery: Exploring and advancing community projects.
- Support Systems & Structure: Building the necessary frameworks to sustain long-term economic success.
- Board of Directors Collaboration: Working closely with other departments and stakeholders to ensure cohesion.
- Business Development & Plans: Driving new business opportunities and managing risk.
- Operations & Growth: Ensuring transparency through regular reporting, while focusing on the sustainable expansion of our economic initiatives.
Next Steps: Discovery and Community Engagement
Toni is eager to hear from the community and will be conducting a survey to gather input. She will also be available for online appointments anytime to discuss ideas and opportunities. Additionally, Toni will be visiting the community from October 7-11, where she will conduct both in-person and online presentations to share more about her plans and how everyone can get involved in shaping our economic future.
